Airport -> City -> Accomodation

If travelling by air then you will be landing at one of the airports above. Ofcourse which airport is nearest to the destination city is to be checked with your University contacts. www.maps.google.com can also be a valuable source to find which airport is the nearest. Germany has one of the best public transportation systems in the world. Depending on the distance to travel the following options are available for regional transportation.

  • Long distance train / Fern Zug operated by Deutsche Bahn

If you have to take long distance train then at the airport ask for the "Fern Bahnhof" (Long distance Train Station). You may get the rail itinerary printed from the ticket counter (free of cost) or well in advance from

http://www.deutschebahn.com/site/bahn/en/start.html

Give the source, destination & be delighted to find that you get detailed itinerary providing details such as platform, departure time, arrival time, travel time, train number, bus numbers, waiting time at transit station etc etc. Amazing !Isn't it.? Check out the section Student Concession/ Rebate (under Upon Arrival) about train travel with Bahn Card for discount & other additional info.

  • Regional trains / Metro / Bus / Street cars (Tram)
  • Taxis

Pretty expensive when compared to the other modes of transportation but in some cities/states students get discount.

Indeed You may have to ask/research to find the best way to reach your destination.
